SALEM, Ore. – With just over one month until the end of Session on June 25th, President Rob Wagner has shut down the Oregon Senate, putting in jeopardy the important work yet to be done. His utter failure to come to the table in good faith proves that he is completely incapable of running the Senate in a bipartisan fashion.
Senate Republican Leader Tim Knopp (R-Bend) released the following statement:
“President Wagner could end this peaceful, constitutional protest today and he is choosing not to. He and his special interest supporters insist on an uncompromising, unlawful agenda that neither addresses nor alleviates the needs of our state. In exchange, critical investments and key legislation addressing homelessness, affordable housing, behavioral health, public safety, job creation, and education are currently being sacrificed.
We have heard President Wagner repeatedly try to convince both his colleagues and Oregonians that he believes good ideas come from everywhere. It turns out, apparently, good ideas only come from the hyper-partisan special interests pulling his puppet strings.”
